Membership

Household

Family membership consists of a couple/partners and all their dependent children under the age of 21, and their children over the age of 21 who are full-time students and are dependent upon their parents for support.

One adult family member must be of the Jewish faith. Non-Jewish household members (Ohavei Yisrael – Lovers of Israel) are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of our community, i.e. serving on committees, social activities, life-cycle and religious services – with the caveat that they are unable to participate in specific Jewish rituals that require them to be of the Jewish faith (receiving an Aliyah, opening the Ark, etc). Ohavei Yisrael are eligible for pastoral care and burial in our Brith Sholom cemetery.

Single

Single membership consists of a single person/parent and all their dependent children under the age of 21, and their children over the age of 21 who are full-time students and are dependent upon their parents for support.Single members must be of the Jewish faith.

Associate

Membership is available to any member of the Jewish faith who is 21 years of age or older, is a member in good standing of another Jewish synagogue, and who resides within thirty (30) miles of Congregation Brith Sholom. Membership includes religious, educational, cultural and social privileges.

Out-of-Town Family

Membership is available to a couple/partners and their dependent children children under the age of 21, and their children over the age of 21 who are full-time students and are dependent upon their parents for support. The family must reside more than thirty (30) miles from Congregation Brith Sholom.

One adult family member must be of the Jewish faith. Non-Jewish household members (Ohavei Yisrael) are welcome to participate in the Brith Sholom community as outlined above (see Household).

Out-of-Town Single

Membership is available to an individual and their dependent children under the age of 21, and their children over the age of 21 who are full-time students and are dependent upon their parents for support. All members must be of the Jewish faith and reside more than thirty (30) miles from Congregation Brith Sholom.
